SubjectWindows Drivers Reply to this message

Does anyone know of a way to back up the device drivers from a Windows installation, and then restore them to a fresh install of Windows?

I know that I need to take the INF folder, but what else? The reason I want to do this is I reinstall windows a lot for people who have got a screwed up/bloated with stuff installation of Windows and it's a pain going to each manufacturer's support site to get the drivers. Or maybe there's a utility to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Shit that's in the System32 folder, and System32/Drivers or something

What I used to do is I would just move my old WINNT folder to somewhere else, re-install Windows, then whenever it asked for a driver I pointed it to OldWinNT\INF and when it would ask for the driver files I pointed it to OldWinNT\System32, OldWinNT, and OldWinNT\Drivers, then all your drivers from the old Windows would carry over to the fresh install.

Unfortunately any software that comes with drivers (for example Creative's EAX control panel) would not be reinstalled.
