ok i need to start upgrading my PC, figured id start with the memory. My PC is about 3 years old so the mem is SDRAM, which is a motherfucker to get hold of. So i figure itll be easier to get a new motherboard and just switch to DDR instead. I havent upgraded my PC for ages so im well behind on specs etc.

I want to keep the processor for now and i cant afford a new gfx card eventhough its crappy. So i need a motherboard that will support DDR Mem, 2.0ghz P4, gforce 2 MX 400, my HDDs (which are quite old too).

Help me out here im a fish outta water

Are you saying that your current CPU is an old P4 @ 2 GHz? Wow am I behind or what with my Athlon XP 2000+!

You should be OK though - get just the board & RAM for now - & if necessary, start with the cheapest Celeron available & then upgrade to a P4 when money permits (although a P4 @ 2 GHz should work fine). I don't know of any board that would not work with a GeForce 2 MX or virtually any IDE hard drives.

The recommendation (ASUS P4P800-E) sounds great to me. Whatever board you get - don't get too skimpy. Try to get a good one. If your current card is AGP then you may want to get a board with both AGP & PCI Express (if available) so when you upgrade the card, you can get the newer technology.
