Are you saying that your current CPU is an old P4 @ 2 GHz? Wow am I behind or what with my Athlon XP 2000+!
You should be OK though - get just the board & RAM for now - & if necessary, start with the cheapest Celeron available & then upgrade to a P4 when money permits (although a P4 @ 2 GHz should work fine). I don't know of any board that would not work with a GeForce 2 MX or virtually any IDE hard drives.
The recommendation (ASUS P4P800-E) sounds great to me. Whatever board you get - don't get too skimpy. Try to get a good one. If your current card is AGP then you may want to get a board with both AGP & PCI Express (if available) so when you upgrade the card, you can get the newer technology.
