Hi, I'm tired of PC gamepads. Haven't been able to find one I'm comfortable with since my old Sidewinder gamepad (gameport model). About a year ago I asked for recommendation on this board, and based on those bought a Saitek P880 pad. The Saitek is mostly ok, but there are too many things I don't like about it, such as the digital/analog switch button (why the heck do I need that? I'd love to have it as a standard button), and I find the shoulder triggers very annoying to press (too "loose").
Last week I bought a new computer, and was shocked (ok, ok, not really - it was expected) that it didn't have a gameport jack - so I can't use my trusty old Sidewinder with it (and of course, the Sidewinder itself is worn with old age).
My question is, is there any other comfortable PC USB gamepad you recommend? Or - some info about PS2 controllers (or perhaps other consoles') and their respective USB adapters. Is it worth buying such a controller (I don't have any console at home) just for that? How does the adapter work - do you get to use *all* inputs of the controller (d-pad, analog sticks,...) at the same time? What about force feedback and the analog buttons? How well and how reliably does it work with PC games, and more importantly MAME and other emulators? And finally, what are the best such adapter solutions on the market?
Thank you!
