The herd of Steve 'n' Bills just moved a pile of work quite quickly.
Sure makes one wonder what would happen if....

I had no idea. Amazing what optimized builds can accomplish, even on absolute shite. Sure as hell wasn't running that well before.

(Of course, upgrading our demo units didn't hurt...)

I could leave them on 24/7? Most of them only run about eleven hours a day (seven on weekends, and this week), with the P4 1.8 at 24/7 and the AMD (it's a Barton Mobile, BTW, but my mobo doesn't know what to make of it) as my home box (and therefore subject to sporadic activity when I, say, go racing).

Shutting off your computer, using it for work or racing is OK, just as long as you feel guilty when doing it. ;-)

As for optimized clients they do really help, and I have been replacing the standard clients as I get around to it.

My Athlon64 seems to be a bit of a puzzle as my self compiled clients both slowed it down, the 32 bit a small amount and the 64bit to a crawl. So I'm still using a Pentium 4 client.

I recently added another GB of RAM to the Athlon64 and also fired up the old Athlon 900 again. Adding the RAM improved the credit more than the old Athlon.

Yes those optimized builds make a huge difference - my output doubled as a result. I'm not sure why my Celeron has started dropping from a peak of 420 or so. The others are close to their peaks but are still making tiny gains.

I am still due to lose the P3 733 soon but I will fire up the Athlon XP 2000+ once I get the necessary parts so I should make a few more small gains soon. I am still waiting for the dual P3 550 to break out & increase big-time - all the other machines have so why not it? Also the same machine went out due to a recent power outage in my city & I didn't realize it until 2 days later so I lost a little ground - so it should regain soon.

Wildcat - 16 computers????? You pimping your family's & friends' systems or something??? :)

Imagine - a few months ago Vom & I were leapfrogging around 500 or so. Wildcat was a drop in the bucket. Now all 3 of us are double or even TRIPLE that!!! :) And if more join our squad even with single systems, we can go even crazier than we are now...

GOOOOO TEAM!!!!!
