The net at my workplace has some kind of blocking imposed on it, due to which I can't download any mp3 files. Any way to get around it?

If they are blocking ports of the program you are using to download you may be able to use different ports that they need to leave open for other things.

If they are blocking the file based on the MP3 extension, you may be able to "save as" another allowed extension e.g. gottakeeparunnin.doc or gottakeeparunnin.pdf instead of gottakeeparunnin.mp3 then just rename it once you have it on your computer.

More info on what they are doing and what you are doing will probably get you more specific answers and possible solutions if any exist.

Specify how you are trying to download MP3s (what program are you using?) & what exactly happens when you try it.

Better yet, keep your job & don't do it. :) You never know if they monitor net activity.

Well, software like morpheus and imesh won't connect at all. I tried downloading from webpages. But when I click the download link or right-click to "save as", it gives a dead link/file not found error. I know the links are fine, cuz' I could download from those links at home.

Sounds like they have you and the box pretty well tied up.

Any work around is going to be seen as a security breach by the IT folks and as indicated by bluejaywpg my prove expensive.

An approach might be to set up remote access to your home computer on some unblocked port and use that to download and transfer.

All in all probably simpler to load up an MP3 player or CDR at home and then just drop them into you work PC, not much of a challenge tho, unless they search you upon your arrival at work ;-)

1gb usb keys are pretty cheap now. they can't search you that well, of course some places hot glue the usb ports.
