SubjectSeti optimized Client Problems new Reply to this message

From http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=440572

There seems to be a problem with optimized seti apps and boinc not getting new work during the current server difficulties. If you haven't got any new work for the last few days, try the following:

* Stop Boinc/Seti
* Rename app_info.xml so it won't be recognised
* Restart BOINC/Seti
* Let Boinc download the original SETI app - may not get through first time, but keep trying
* Wait until all transfers have finished
* Restore app_info.xml to original name
* Restart BOINC/Seti

You should at least have a decent cache of downloaded WUs now to crunch. Not sure if this will get "fixed" or if you'll have to do the same again when the cache runs dry if Berkeley are still experiencing problems.

For those unaware, a key server related to SETI@home died & rendered SETI completely down for all intents & purposes (it was unable to generate new work).

I've been running Rosetta@home until SETI@home gets back to normal. It seems like even if I force Rosetta to stop downloading new tasks, it still won't download very many SETI work units. I haven't tried the above suggested steps - tho I am also not running an optimized SETI.

Which optimized SETI are you running?

Things are still screwed-up, they seem to have now run out of work units from the splitters.

I'm going to shut down a box or two until things sort themselves out.

I've been using the SETI clients from Simon Zadra (KWSN - Chicken of Angnor) and the latest Boinc client from Crunch3r.
