Thanks for the reply. The partition was put in by a company called Microlink which specialises in supplying Mac Books to universities.

I think I've managed to erase the partition and re-install Mac OS. Only thing is, from a 160gb hard disk drive Mac OS reports 130gb free. That seems to have been a lot of space taken up by the OS(tiger).

I'm not familiar with the Mac system so maybe I just need to expand my knowledge of Mac OS.
