Hey guys, i am new to the personal arcade machine scene. Can someone please help me:
I recently bought a CPS II arcade cabinet, and bought S:SFII Grand Master for it. it ran.. its green japanese although its 'test' menu is in english unlike my other game .. Xmen (jap). The problem is the sound is way off, on both games. Instead of making music and hakuden sounds it makes sqeeks and sqeels. sometimes i can make out words like 10-9-8- (in the countdowns) but it sounds like an ill robot is saying them. the motherboard has 2 red/white outputs so i'll later take down some speakers and try to plug it into that to see if the sound runs correct on those.. but anyways can someone help me? what is/ could be the problem. (there are 2 speakers on this cabinet on the top).. volume works good up and down. just its all messed up. are the speakers just broken? or is some wire in the wrong place.. am a noob. any help? thanks

Hi All,

At this guess it might be that there is some kind of electrical interference going on, which would certainly account for the squeaks and squeals. Alternatively, this may be caused by clipping, where the output is overloading the amplifier and causing distortion. If possible, try and take the outputs from the board into a PC (or Mac) sound editing application and see what kind of wave forms you get.

HTH,
