SubjectQuestion about Gremlin Reply to this message

I'm not entirely sure of what role Gremlin had in the 1970's coinop machines.

I know this company only as a game developer for home computers in the 1980's.

Most of the 1970's Taito titles that I'm unsure of it's nationality, are related to Gremlin, so I need to get a clear picture of this company.

What exactly did Gremlin do?

a) Develop games?
b) Import Japanese games?
c) Manufacture Games?
D) Distribute games?
E) License Sega hardware?

here are some unclear examples:

Safari was distributed by Taito in Japan and distributed by Gremlin in the US. But MAME says it uses *Sega* VIC DUAL hardware... I would remove this game from the Taito Project if someone can establish that it's an American game. What does Sega have to do with the game, btw?

What's the story behind the Sega/Gremlin vector games? are they Japanese or american? Was Sega acting as a US distributer, Japanese distributer or game developer?

I once asked around about these things but got no response... I'm hoping that I have better luck this time.
