1) Does the Dreamcast/Naomi have dedicated sprite-handling hardware? Or does it operate much like a PSX doing a 2D fighter; drawing sprites as polys with no Z-axis?

2) Have any Naomi games been dumped, and are they encrypted in any way?

More or less, yes, afaik it has no 2D hardware as such at all.

1 game has been dumped, Virtua Striker 2. No-ones really taken a good look at it, but as far as emulation is concerned the main Naomi bios is not dumped, so until someone dumps the surface mounted jobber and risks blowing up their expensive new Naomi mobo its not going to happen...
