Subjectquestion about unemulated games new Reply to this message

Hello, I have a question about the status of a couple of unemulated Sega arcade games (and since I'm both kinda new to this board and unfamiliar with just how many Sega games the System 16 technology includes, you'll have to forgive me if I'm asking a question that's technically out of place here).

The games I'm curious about are:

Virtua Cop
House Of The Dead
Thunder Blade
Laser Ghost
Crack Down

I know that these are all unemulated--for Mame at least--but was wondering if anyone could give me some kind of idea on when if ever they might be emulated (as in, is it months, or years away, or just completely unlikely). And, for any games on that list that AREN'T relevant to the System 16 technology and this board, would you know of any other Sega emulation message boards where I could get that kind of information?

Thanks, I just want to get an idea so I know whether to hold my breath or not...

All 3D Very difficult, may get emulated by HLE'ing it to death (i.e. simulating it), proper emulation very unlikely for a very long time.

Basically finished in the rewrite of the MAME Sega drivers, and pretty much perfect.

Heavily protected, Hitachi custom 68k's, may get done sometime in the next year or two if the special hardware trojaning equipment gets built and if we get hold of the boards.

Never hold your breath with arcade emulation, you'll always turn blue ;)

Thanks for the info!! Bummer to know that the others are so complicated, but at least Thunder Blade's working.

But which emulator is it supposed to be working for? Mame? Modeler? I couldn't really tell which you meant, since being a technologically inept newbie I'm still a little unsure about which emulators the System 16 technology applies to...

(speaking of which, is there like some kind of disclaimer for this board I can read about just what Sega games are relevant?)

All Sega games are relevant ;)
Finalburn kinda runs thunderblade, and MAME will when its added (after its finished)

Good to know! Though it looks like I'll probably have to wait for Final Burn then (being a MAME guy), it'll still be good to be able to check out that game again.

Thanks again, Six. You da man around here...

You mean you'll have to use Final Burn for now, and wait for MAME. I think that's what you meant. Yes, Final Burn offers preliminary emulation of ThunderBlade, but it's quite buggy.
