Hey Six. I was just talking with some friends about a game I used to play in the arcades "Shoot Away". It was insanily popular in southern US at the time. Here is a pic:

Apparently it was by Namco (see the logo near the bottom right corner of the screen) and I didn't see anything about it here so, just letting you know. I wish this could be somehow MAME'd but it probably won't be :-(

It was apparently electro-mechanical, dating from 1984. (according to KLOV, so take that as you will). Is System16 an appropriate place for electro-mechanical games?

Further Note:
Recent questions from "gregf" and others have led me to realize how dire the lack of publicly available information is for electro-mechanical arcade games. Not many cabinet photos out there, manuals are largely unscanned, and there's a lot of inconsistent data. I may start that spinoff project in a few years, something like a VAPS/KLOV/System16 for electo-mechanical arcade games.

I don't really know, but it was a video arcade game by Namco either way you slice it...

Yeah, its actually a very very basic arcade lightgun game.
It just uses 2 lightguns and a projection screen, but it IS a proper video game...

Be interesting to get a dump of it and see if it plugs into anything, but it would be beyond basic, with pong type graphics (white dots and a explosion dot, thats it)

Six...

Do you know what displayed the backdrop graphics? I guess it was either a projection or the graphics were actually printed on the screen. I can't remember if it changed pictures or if it was video or what.

I stand corrected, then. Then it's a discrete circuitry game, to be sure... but we won't know without looking.

Shane Monroe's looking into the simulation of "TRAPSHOOT", a bar game along similar lines if not scale. So it's not that emulation's impossible, but improbable. Simulation is more likely.
