Sega is merging with Sammy (yes, that Sammy) and Sammy will be in charge of the combined company. So Sega as we knew it is pretty much dead now.

Here's the story.

Maybe...although the writing was on the wall if you look back the past 6 months, hindsight is a wonderful thing :) (/me points to atomiswave and the almost superhuman similarity to the Naomi)

From what I've heard although the head of Sammy is to take the helm, Sega are still holding a 54% share of the new company. The current rumor is that either they will keep the name Sega, or more likely a new name entirely will be thought up, as there are strong rumors of a holding company being set up by Sega and Sammy.

Also there is a very strong chance that the arcade division will retain the name Sega and may even be floated off independantly.
