Six...I am utterly confused at this point. I have just received an emaail in response to this very issue from Darl Davidson of Sega Services. Here what it says:
The only linking capability of Daytona 2 are Fiber Optic Cables to link 8 machines in one location. No Ethernet link is available.
Sega has never Manufactured a game in this country with this option.

Darl Davidson
I don't understand. When the game first came out I read in *numerous* articles that Daytona USA 2 Power Edition had a feature that allows operators to uplink their machines to a PC and thus allowed up to 40 players to compete via the broadband connection.

Taken from the Killer List of Videogames:

"""""
"Each cabinet also has a broadband connection, which if used, can theoratically link up to 40 cabinets over the Internet"

http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7531&letter=D (under "Technical")

""""""""""
Taken from the official Gamefaq site:

"With the US Robotics Modem included with the Model 3 Type 2 Board, a Daytona 2 cabinet can be hooked up through preferrably a dedicated server through a backboned T3 Phone Line for Internet Gaming enabling up to 40 players maximum, 16 players Minimum to play at once! Also, you'll know who's better than who in each track with this new feature."

""""""""""

What gives?
