Subjectwanted: virtua racing (model 1) pinout Reply to this message

i have a question, i finally found a (supposedly) working Virtua Racing pcb. i dont have it physically here yet, will take some weeks for it to get here i think (usa -> europe...). So i figured i might as well start looking for a pinout for it. The problem is, i cant find a pinout for the game, or model 1 boards in general. I just want to hook it up to my TV like i do with my jamma (and jamma-like) boards. I've googled around quite a bit but i can't seem to find a pinout for virtua racing. Also, i just have the "main" pcb.. do i need an I/O board too just to connect RGB video, joysticks and audio? if so, id better start looking for that NOW :) i couldnt find any info on whether just a main game pcb is sufficient for what i want either.

Its totally analog control, so joysticks wont work.

yup.. well i found out that it wont work on a TV anyway because of the medium res it uses.. maybe with weird scan converters or something.. so i suppose i'll just have to find a medium res monitor.. but still, as far as controls go, you should be able to hook up some sort of analog control to it, providing you have the pinout :) there are enough anlog steering wheels and controllers out there for various consoles and PC, so i think it should be possible to hook something up

No, it requires a Sega analog steering wheel controller/mech, as otherwise at the very least it wont be set up right, and more than likely just wouldnt work full stop.

Why do you think the boards on their own are relativly cheap? People generally by them as spares or replacements for ones that have blown up in a machine, sorry :/

hi

it might be better selling the pcb on ebay and getting the Sega Saturn and a copy of the game.

having said that it might be be worth getting a hold of a virtua racing upright cab which takes up less space and keeping the pcb as a spare.

light gun games have the same problems where getting the pcb is easy getting a working light gun is a lot harder

in fact if a pcb is not jamma compatible there is a good chance the pcb will need the right cabinet.
