Personally I'd love to know more about these mysterious coding gurus, but sadly many of them are too modest to contribute bios. :) Oh well, we love you guys anyway!
Win A FREE Act-Labs USB Light Gun - Well, here's the last reminder about the Act-Labs USB Light Gun contests - hopefully we'll announce the winners sometime next week! :) There's still a little time left to enter, so if you've been putting it off, now's the time.

What About GamePark32?! - I didn't know much about the GP32 dev scene, until Clem (a GP32 fan) saw all my GBA posts, and emailed me some interesting GP32 links! I was impressed to see everything from arcade Phoenix to C64 to Wonderswan being emulated on this little Korean handheld... First we have GP32 Projects & GP32Dev, two nice news sites about GP32 development. Then there are full-on (and FREE) ports of Doom & Wolfenstein 3D to try. Lastly, here's an E3 interview with the GP32 developers. Very cool little machine, but it will never play Metroid Fusion. ;)

There are ports, updates and sequels to old 2D favorites like Metroid, Shinobi, Altered Beast, Zelda and many more - check out this E3 report at Gamer's Hell for some coverage. GBA Central also posted some good coverage, and PocketIGN has some great coverage too, despite their annoying "Insider" scheme, check out the videos! (Thanks Francesco)

ZTnet, HanaHo & ArcadeWerx - Well, I see Metallik already mentioned the new ZTnet store, but I wanted to explain things a bit to our visitors. First off, the staff at Retrogames receives NO money from this (including myself), so we are still hobbyists just like you. Secondly, the main reason for the store is to augment ad income so we can GET RID OF THOSE POP-UPS! :) We ALL hate them, and by buying HanaHo products through the ZTnet store, you get exactly the same items, for exactly the same prices but ZTnet receives a commission to be used for maintaining the network. And that network includes MANY sites including Retrogames, MAME and lots more. At the moment HotRod arcade panels and Retrogames T-Shirts (I need a new one, someone stole mine!) are available to purchase, with more stuff to come later. Please forgive this long explanation, but I thought it should be clarified.
Now, here's the interesting part... A new product is coming called the ArcadeWerx. While I can't mention too many details yet, I suspect many people will like it. Especially HotRod owners... And it will be EXCLUSIVE to us!

Illegal News Post - This is an illegal news post, if you have high morals, stop reading this post now! Reuters, Yahoo, CNET and others have all violated the law by posting articles on how to circumvent copy-protection in CDs with a felt-tip pen (by the way, felt-tip pens are illegal now too). You can read more about these news agencies violations here. Note however that it is illegal for me to post that link, and it is illegal for newsforge to have that article. Atila: if you decide it is in the best interest of retrogames.com to delete this post, I will understand.
U.S. citizens: Please write your congressmen about the atrocities going on with copyright law these days.

VGN temporarily down - It appears Timmy has pulled the plug on the Vintage Gaming Network. Attempts to access it now result in an HTTP error. The forums are still up here - if anyone can give them a hand hosting-wise, drop them a line. When I get word of their new URL I'll post it.
Update: appears to be back (short death :). Who knows whats going on..
Cube Pricedrop - Nintendo has dropped the price of its Gamecube console to $150 in North America, according to an article on Planet Gamecube. This comes days after Sony and Microsoft knocked $100 off their respective consoles. Gotta love competition..!
Digital Clones - Just finished watching Star Wars Episode II on one of the 50 or so digital projection screens available in the United States (Showcase Springdale). We wound up in the back, so I couldn't see too much increase in detail, although my friends claims to have seen facial hair on Natale Portman :) The colors were very vivid, and there was no artifacting, nor any print artifacts that mar traditional films. Except for a half-second dropout towards the beginning, the film was perfect. See it this way if you can, but don't make TOO much effort.. it's not that much of a difference.
Oh, and as for Eckel, maybe if he's spend less time pissing on his hosted sites, he'd have more time to spend on HIS page (4 posts in 7 days... haha

-New "KScale" blitter. This is a new edge enhancement blitter with zero blur. It's also insanely fast compared to the traditional 2xSai/Super2xSai/SuperEagle. Comes in 4 variations: Plain, and 25%/50%/75% Scanlines. I personnally feel KScale+75%Scanlines is the best blitter in Kawaks, try it :) (MMX only).
-Shiny new "Smart Interframe blending" mode (MMX and non MMX versions). This new blending mode replaces all flickers (SamSho 4 life bars, KoF shadows, etc ...) by transparencies while the rest of the picture retains all its sharpness.
-Made it so that interframeblending occurs before the video processing stage (speed boost).
-New kb shortcut : Alt+B toggles between Interblending modes.
-New sound option : Low pass filter.
-Fixed ShumaGorath's Chaos dimension in Marvel Super Heroes.
-Rewrote Kaillera support. Now, emu will accept to run if you don't have Kailleraclient.dll, and noone should see Kaillera errors on startup anymore.
-Sound logging option now saves a WAV, not a RAW.
-Ctrl Numpad + and Ctrl Numpad - now control volume.
-Fixed Cheater support.
-Changed Batcir & Csclub to suit latest CPS2 conventions.
-Changed driver for NeoPong to use NeoPong 1.1 roms instead.
