  • NesterGP - Another new NES emulator for GP32! This time it's NesterGP by Scherzo. User reactions have been very positive (I haven't tried it myself yet) and apparently it has good speed, compatability, sound, save/load states, Game Genie style cheats, GoodNES based ROM CRC database, and something no other NES emulator for GP32 has implemented yet - a fullscreen stretching routine to remove the black borders on either side of the display! Great job Scherzo - this means GP32 will soon have 3 high quality NES emulators, and nothing is more fun than some friendly competition eh? :) For those having trouble downloading the file, I've mirrored nestergp_v1_0.zip for you. (Thanks GP32emu.com) - prophet

  • ClrMAME Pro 3.02.3 - Roman Scherzer updated ClrMAME Pro! It's a very comprehensive ROM management and auditing utility for Windows, if you didn't know. :) New stuff:

misc: compiled with updated ziparchive class (fixes some rare unzip problems)
misc: drag&drop a zipfile in 'About' Window will now calculate md5/crc32/sha1/size for each file inside the zip.
misc: "do you want to view the created lists" after save/miss lists generation can be enabled/disabled by .ini
misc: warningmsgbox is shown when rebuilder destination uses sysdefpaths while scanner's fix-missing doesn't.

  • PSXeven V0.17 WIP - There's been a WIP update to PSXEven, the Windows based Playstation emulator. changes are;
    • Enabled interpreter mode. It was previously too slow to be of any use for running games. But due to optimizations done, its over 2X faster now. =P. You can swap between intepreter and translator mode anytime as well.
    • Enabled disassembler, you can enable/disable it by using F7. Enabled this one so that some can send me more useful info. :)
    • Implemented branch delay emulation in the interpreter. No need to use patches for tekken2 when running in interpreter mode. Thanks to linuzappz.
    • Added savestate manager. It can be used to delete/browse/load your current savestates.
    • Fixed memory allocation bug, which caused crashes during exits.

    • Modified vysnc timing calculations. Fixes menu flickering in games like Vagrant Story etc.
    • Added NEGCON support. Havent tested.
    • Modified iDCT to skip all zero AC terms.

    • Added rudimentary PSF support, dunno if the timing is correct and mini-psf's are currently not supported. More stuff regarding psf's hopefully soon. ^_-
Implemented correct retirement of mapped registers in the translator.
    • Changed gpu dma timings, to fix weird glitches in some demos.
    • Fixed error on SLL/SRL/SRA translator conditions when shift = 0
    • Fixed incorrectly translated signed compares (const vs const) during conditional branching.

    • Added cache/read-ahead to internal iso (binary) reader for faster access.
    • Updated the package with the new P.E.Op.S Plugins as well. A little warning, various parts of the core were rewritten inorder to improve stability and compatibility, but in doing so new bugs might have inadvertedly crept into the core. So if you encounter games that don't work in this new version but worked on previous versions, please report the game to me. You can thank or blame CKemu for the logo.

  • Meka Mekanix - Meka, the excellent Sega Master System / Game Gear emulator has been updated to version 0.65 (code name Mekanix). The main benefits of this upgrade seem to be accuracy and speed enhancements which is always nice and Linux compatibility. Complete changes are;
    • Rewrote palette system in the attempt of reducing palette changes even more. As some people noticed, on some computer, the Windows version had terrible slowdown and incorrect colors at some occasion and especially in Game Gear games. This is due to some DirectX video drivers which force waiting for a screen refresh before each palette change. Problem is that some drivers does that and some other do not. Palette changes in MEKA are now better grouped so that the wait should not affect gameplay in most cases. Please report if you notice any palette related problem in this version. Windows users, note that you can still get color flickering in some video modes. But overally, things should be much better.
    • Rewrote hardware sprite collision emulation for video modes 1, 2 and 3 (used by SG-1000/SC-3000/SF-7000/Coleco Vision software, mainly). Sprite collision are now processed line per line, for a very accurate result - at the cost of a slighty slower emulation. Although machines using those video modes usually can't poll for the current line, some software can manually do a similar job, making this precise value useful. This fixes "Froggy" and "Gold Miner" (SF-7000), and maybe more. Please report if you notice any collision related problem in this version.
    • Fixed SMS/GG scanline counter to return accurate values.
    • PAL/SECAM modes now have 313 lines instead of 312.
    • Fixed "Daffy Duck in Hollywood" (SMS) which in some cases had incorrect scrolling on the level score screen.
    • Fixed palette switching in "F-16 Fighter" / "F-16 Fighting Falcon", colors were incorrect during one single frame after the title screen. This bug was introduced in a previous release.
    • [Windows]Fixed screen capture (did crash with some DirectX drivers in version 0.64c).
    • Added Chinese flag in the file loader and associated the early dump of Hokuto no Ken with it.
    • Added and modified entries in the checksum and compatibility lists. Fixed a few inconsistent entries. Some particular renaming includes:
Chase H.Q. --> Taito Chase H.Q. (official name)
Story of Mio --> Hoshi Wo Sagashite... (official name)
Hokuto no Ken [B] --> Hokuto no Ken
Hokuto no Ken [A] --> Hokuto no Ken [China]
    • Updated documentation.
    • [UN*X]Released a quick & dirty GNU/Linux build, codenamed "MEKANIX". It is not perfect and I do not plan to completely support it, but I hope it can be useful to some people (some asked for it). Please read MEKANIX.TXT if you want to use it.

    • Major changes to dual 68000 core. Completely seperated Main and Sub CPU emulation, before they used the same code. This allows me to try out a clever trick I thought up, which should hopefully mean that Perfect Sync is slightly faster, and works better. Time will tell ;) This may also affect Genesis emulation, but hopefully it didn't break anything.

  • Evil Blizzard Shuts down Free Software Project! - The free software project FreeCraft has been shut down by Blizzard Entertainment!! Here is an except from the changelog:
As of June 20th, Freecraft is shut down. There will be no more updates to this game, and it is no longer available for download.

    • Fixed a bug in Reset() function
    • I'm really sorry Bart, I forgot to mention the fact that I use your very good 68000 emulator, now fixed!
    • Fixed a bug in DMA indirect mode: this fixes die hard (now showing polygons), some backgrounds in decathlete and gouraud shading bugs in nights and burning rangers (gouraud shading tables are now correctly filed)
    • Corrected a bug in color RAM address offset calculation, still incorrect in some cases
    • Corrected a bug in VDP2 cell mode (was causing a black zone on the border of planes)
    • Priority function works better, still far from being perfect...
    • Added an option to force sprite priority to 6, this makes kof97 and metalslug playable (and perheaps other non tested games), just try it if you don't see sprites.
