  • Satourne Gets Faster - Here's what Ben-J at Consollection told me: "Fabien Autrel (the Satourne author) sent me 2 brand new screenshots of Satourne work in progress: It show us Daytona USA running at 40-50 fps! Yes! you read right! And Fabien thinks to rewrite all on the graphic routine to have more fps! In addition to Daytona the USA, Fabien succeeded in playing Panzer Dragoon 1600*1200 with bilinear filtering, with more than 60fps. At this rate, a limiting device of FPS will be installed!" You can view those screenshots here. - prophet

  • Dapple 0.80, 0.80a, 0.81, 0.82 and 0.83 - Dapple is an Apple ][ emulator, aiming to support a well-fitted Apple ][, ][+ or //e machine with 64K. It is based on Marat Fayzullin's M6502 with 65C02 additions and Marcel de Kogel's Z80Em. Changes Include:

0.83: International users rejoice, a sticky setting exists that allows the selection of alternate character sets. This might not work correctly. Do not delete "dapple.chr" if you change the settings. Remember, Dapple does get characters from DOS, so KEYB will affect the layout of the keyboard as Dapple sees it. Key mapping for High ASCII characters is based on CP 437, and depends on the Apple charset selected. Also... //e screen paging bugs have been partially fixed. Still no Page 2 in //e mode.

0.82: WARNING: THERE ARE NEW SCREEN PAGING BUGS IN IIE MODE. However, the paging bug has been fixed.

0.81: More accurate chroma; initial support for XASCII characters. I plan to add support for various alternate charsets soon. If you do not have an American keyboard, load your keyboard driver. Dapple calls DOS to read the keyboard, so if KEYB is installed, Dapple will get its keys through KEYB.

0.80a: Fixed off-by-one error in Block->HTS translation (nonvirtual drive A: translator).

0.80: An off-the-cuff suggestion leads to a new feature...CLEANUP AISLE 5 as a ProDOS block driver is tied to the A: disk. If you remove or rename DISK.ROM and keep the hard disk emulation disabled, the BIOS will attempt to boot off a disk in drive A: (1.44 MB format).

VERY handy if you’re a collector of 2600 carts or roms and aren’t quite sure how to play a game.

And if classics aren’t your thing then you should check out the Videogame Bible. While covering some of the same material, the Bible picks up where the Digital Press Guide leaves off covering the various Sega consoles, SNES, N64, and more.

From the site: "If no major problems are found, this will become 0.61.1. Changes since 0.61.1-pr4:

-Re-applied Benoit Dumont's configfile patch. I had trashed it with some careless diffing from the MESS CVS tree.
-Updated the changelog to mention the correct switch for the waveout plugin: "-audiodevice", not "-waveout"." - RocLobsta

  • Raine Release - There's a new Raine out! 0.36.1 is mainly a bug fix release. Here's what's been sorted:

    - Fixed the zoom in the gunbird driver, especially for tengai. It's still not 100% perfect, but it's much better.
    - Added the first complete line scroll support in raine for the gunbird driver. Now Tengai has a very precise and very fast line scroll. It's also used in Battle K-Road but it's much harder to notice there !
    - Fixed : the music was too fast in Rainbow Island and maybe some other games, the pause didn't work well anymore (the game timer was not stopped), the demos were unreadable (again !).
    - Added hotkeys for the "ghost" buttons on the raine bar (Dips, Region and Cheats).
    - The adpcm sound is mono, not stereo, so it's back to center position now (it was on the left side only before)
    - Fixed the long name for "Samurai Aces"
    - Switched to a gnu-like version number for raine (0.36.1 instead of 0.36a to avoid confusion).

    Thanks to

  • Raflsiau.zip Is Fake - Just an update to MetaFox's earlier post: the raflsiau.zip mentioned is NOT the correct dump. It's an old, hacked file that just matches the checksums of the real one, which was lost in a harddrive crash before it could be publically released, NOT "hoarded." It's not worth downloading IMO, or distributing since such hacks only cause confusion if/when correct dumps appear. (Thanks Smitdogg) - prophet
