Mupen64 v0.2 - Mupen64 is a multi-platform Nintendo64 emulator. After five long months a new release is out. Changes are;

Gest v0.65 & Source - Normally I'd wait a few days and post about two or three Gest updates at the same time. But because the news is slow today and the fact that the author has released the source code this time around as well I'll make an exception. Changes in version 0.65 are
Universe BIOS v1.2 - "The Universe BIOS is for owners of a real MVS arcade system that want an easy way to change country region or between Arcade or Console mode on boot. Also included are other features that are not normally possible using the standard MVS bios."
Changes in this release are;
Added Multislot support to the Jukebox Player and Gamecart CRC check.
Added the ability to continue on from a hardware error.
Allowed Test Mode button to give access to TEST mode menu while in console mode.
Cheats for MATRIMELEE added to the cheats database.
Test mode improvements
Time added to main test mode menu screen (date format changes from euro to usa region).
Crosshatch test shrunk to match fullscreen used by most games.
Full color fade bars in color test (why the original BIOS never did this is beyond me).
Setting up the code number will now be in English even when set to Japan region.

Disabling the hardware test (general bios settings) now disables the Z80 test also.

Games that use the protected banking system no longer calculate the crc32 for those banks, instead it is indicated that they are custom.
Doing a 'WORK RAM TEST' (all hard dips on at power on) no longer clears region settings.
Updated CRC32 database although there could still be errors.
Fixed a lockup if entering the Memory Card Manager or Test Mode from the splash screen when running in console mode with hard DIP 8 (stop) on.
Fixed 'unlock Kyo & Iori' kof99 cheat (no longer jumps to character select after win).
Fixed distorted music in Jukebox Player with games ROTD, KOF2002 and MATRIMELEE.

GameBase 0.94 Released! - James Burrows released a new version of his universal emulator frontend, GameBase, here's what's new:
- Added an 'Auto Syntax Check' option when writing gemus scripts
- auto-calculation of supported emu file types - no longer need to manually
specify them (can still use them as defaults tho)
- Now shows musician photo when clicking on the music details tab for a game
- Minor interface changes
- Amended licence/disclaimer
- Fixed crash when minimising the gemus script editor window
- Fixed bug where GB wasn't saving associated script files when adding new
- Fixed bug when assigning photos to musicians when a game is selected

Man... I know I shouldn't talk, but where did the updates go? :) Anyway, since it seems I'm the only who really gives a rip about this kick ass operating system, an individual who goes by edge has ported over Exult to BeOS.You can nab the BeOS version of it from the great guys over at BeEmulated. Go to that site, there have been a lot of updates to emulators like MAME, ScummVM, and Hatari to name a few.
DirectX Vulnerability Found! - The Register is reporting that a 'critical' problem with DIrectX was found and that MS issued a patch to fix the problem. After I installed this, WIN2k crashed and gave me a BSOD :)

NEStron v0.6.6b - I'm not familiar with this emulator but NEStron is a NES emulator for Windows based computers. It claims to be pretty fast in comparison to other NES emulators but I haven't tried it out. This version fixes a controller bug in WindowsXP

HUGE Guru Update - The Guru has updated his website with a ton of new goodies that has arrived in the mail.
SMS Plus/SDL v7.1 - SMS Plus/SDL is a port of the SMS Plus emulator for SDL supported platforms. This release fixed a bug in the joystick code.
Bad News? - On a sad note that seems to repeat itself way too often recently The Eidolon's Inn has lost its host and will be shutting down at the end of the month unless it can find an affordable new host and funds to keep it up. Eidolon's Inn is a site devoted to the classic computer and videogame systems of the 1980's and '90's as well as almost all things Sega.

Terminator 3 pinball reviewed - KME and crew have added a Terminator 3 pinball review to their already-impressive list of pinball reviews over at (what else) www.pinballreviews.com. This game marks Steve Ritchie's return to the industry after 8 years, and it appears to be a pretty solid effort. Check out the review, and be sure to read the others.. some are pretty entertaining.

Wine 20030709 - Wine Is Not an Emulator. It is an alternative implementation of the Windows 3.x and Win32 APIs. Changes: More Direct3D and DirectSound improvements were made. Inter-process clipboard support was added. Locale handling was improved. More progress was made on the kernel/ntdll separation. The usual load of bugs were also fixed.
Gex v0.9.6 - There's been a lot of work being done on Gameboy emulation recently it seems. This time it's GEX thats updated. Changes in this release are;

Adventure II Demo Update - A new demo and some great new pictures of Adventure II has been released. Adventure II is an unofficial sequel to the classic Atari 2600 game but this time for the Atari 5200. The game is about 40% completed at this point and as an old time Atari fan I have to say that this game is REALLY starting to looking great.
YAPE v0.49 - Yape (Yet Another Plus/4 Emulator) is a multi-platform emulator of the 8 bit Commodore 264 family (C16, C232, plus/4) of microcomputers. Changes are;

In this version you can play GB games in GBC mode with palettes that look more or less like the default GBC palettes. Choose GBC (or GBA) as system type. The palettes can be changed at any time with the number buttons.
Gameboy games can be played in GBC mode with GBC default palettes
VisualBoy Advance v1.6b2 - the Gameboy Advance emulator VisualBoy Advance has seen an update today. Since this release is a beta there is no documentation included with the binary but the emulator homepage lists the following as changes in this release.
Rewind is only enabled in the menu if there is a rewind position
Rewind history is discard if a rom is loaded or a save state is loaded
Warning message added when playing movies about losing previous saves
Rewind can be disabled by setting interval to 0 for slower machines
Sound problems loading old save states should be gone (note that version beta 1 save states will have the problem though)

Little John GP32 0.2 - YoYoFR released a new version of his superb NES emulator for GP32! This release is reason enough for anyone wanting a portable NES to buy a GP32, as it runs 60fps without sound, about 30fps with sound, and also has a very full feature set. It's still a bit buggy though, add your feedback on the GP32emu board, you'll find an ongoing thread there where you can address the author.

Cxbx v0.7.6 - There's been another Cxbx release today. Cxbx is a work in progress Xbox emulator. The internals have changed very significantly in this version, so some apps (especially homebrew emulators) are starting to run. PointSprites now runs correctly, and is a very impressive demo. Xcade 004 GP32 - Okay, one more GP32 news post... :) Skeezix just posted a new beta version of his GP32 arcade game emulator, Xcade! The big news is SOUND in the Pacman hardware based games, including Ms.Pacman and Pengo. (This news bit I found myself. :P)
Atari800 & Nester for GP32 - Mark Watson's Atari800 GP32 port was updated to 0.4! It includes various tweaks & fixes, and the screen drifting bug is dead and gone now - I love this emu. :) Next, we have Scherzo's latest NesterGP, a superb NES emulator for GP32, now up to v1.1! This release includes fixed savestates & game genie, plus a faster file selector. (Thanks GP32emu as usual)

GP32 Update - A new Colecovision emulator, GPColEm v0.1, was released by Consolius! This release doesn't have sound or alphabetical game sorting yet, but all that's planned for the next version. Download it from GP32emu. Also in the news are two WIP emulators. First we have Little John, YoYoFR's NES emulator - new screenshots were released showing off all sorts of great features, from screen scaling to sprite capacity doubling. Next, we have fSMS32, Rlyeh's brand new Sega Master System (and Game Gear??) emulator - which reportedly runs 60fps with crystal clear sound, save states and an advanced file selection system. You can see photos at GP32emu & GP32Xtreme. UPDATE - GP32emu just posted a new test build of GPvGB (Gameboy Color emu) which is very fast (too fast!) and solves the crash bug!
DOSemu 1.1.5 - DOSEmu is a Linux application that enables the Linux OS to run many DOS programs including some DPMI apps. Changes: In this version, lots of bugs were fixed, and many new features added, including fullscreen support for X and an improved CPU emulator for VGAEMU.

Spectaculator 5.1 - Spectaculator is a Sinclair ZX Spectrum emulator for PCs running Microsoft® Windows® 95, 98, ME, NT 4, 2000 and XP. It emulates the 16K/48K/128/+2/+2A/+3 Spectrums and some additional hardware. Changes in this release are documented here.
Xeuphoric 0.12.1 - Xeuphoric is a port of Euphoric, Fabrice Francès' Oric emulator, to the X window system. It emulates the Oric-1, the Oric Atmos, and the Telestrat. Changes: This release fixes a bug in the video emulation and improves the handling of tapes. Floppy disk emulation works now.
MAME 0.71 - Gridle has just posted the source and binaries for MAME 0.71, among other things, TESTDRIVERS for ZN games (ZiNC emu) have been added! Check the WHAT'S NEW list to see what has been added/fixed in this release.
DCMAME 0.70 Source - Ice88 posted the source for his upgrade of DC MAME to 0.70 in this DCEmulation topic.
When you place this source on top of the PC MAME source, you have a full current 0.70 MAME for Dreamcast to work from. Prior to this release, all MAME builds were based on 0.37b15 or 0.37b16.

Translations Updates - Here are the translations that have happened recently: RPGONE released a bugfix update for their translation of the RPG Dragon Quest I.II and a 100% translation patch of the anime tennis game, Aim For the Ace for the SNES. Also, Gil Galad has released a 25% complete patch for the platformer, Adventures in Asmik Land, for the SNES.
Ipher's ZSNES WIP - Ipher released a new WIP build of this great SNES emulator! According to our console board mod, Pr3tty F1y, it has new DSP updates, making games like Ballz 3D playable.
Apple IIe on Palm - PalmApple is a new open source Apple IIe emulator for Palm OS based handhelds! It's still alpha, but includes:

Gest v0.31 - Some people are just tireless! There's been yet another Gest update today. Changes in this release are;
KiGB V1.45 - KiGB, the multi-platform Gameboy emulator has been updated today. Changes are;
In previous versions, even GB mode was off, KiGB would still force to GB mode when KiGB detected the game was not for GBC. In v1.45, KiGB will no longer force the mode switch. This is useful for running demos that have corrupted GBC flag in the ROM header. (Invasion DX (BUNG) (PD) [C] and Joshua Wise's Demo (Quang2000) (PD) [C]).
No borders were displayed when choosing the preference "GBC with SGB borders" on some SGB-supported games. Fixed.
Fixed a bug on handling the SGB command CHR_TRN when tile type was set to OBJ. Itsudemo Nyando Wonderful shows the border.
Palettes were incorrectly initialised. Fixed. (16 Threads Demo)
Adjusted the timing on interrupts. Fixed the following games: Legend of Zerd (graphics glitches in the intro), Altered Space (graphics glitches at the leftmost when the rocket appears in the intro) and possibly other games (the music of Adventure of Arle)
