Makuchan & Bardock have been mailbombed with "now! now! now!" type messages to release the Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension dump they've been working on together. Because of this, Madoka ROMance has released the dump, but NOT the password. The password will be revealed on November 5th, and I hope Makuchan sticks to that decision. I've also been asked to say this: STOP MAILING THEM ABOUT THIS GAME. Time to grow up, realize nobody owes you anything, and wait one lousy week. Nail me on the message boards all you want for saying this, but I'm sick of hearing really nice dumpers and authors are being harassed this way. And NO, I don't have the dump or the password either. (Thanks Bardock & others) Also, Opi reminded me that Makuchan also recently released Marvelous - 32MBits/FX Chip(SA-1), not yet playable, & Jumpin' Derby - 8MBits/FX Chip(SA-1), playable on SNES9x. -P-
Darkmazda has posted the NEOGEO CD COVER of Samurai Shodown

He has big plans to support EVERY console out there, but this is only the beginning. NOTE: I haven't tried this utility myself, so proceed with caution. -P-

Here's the MAME for Digita binary! Amazingly enough, this MAME runs on the Kodak DC265 camera, which (I'm told) contains a 66Mhz PowerPC processor. That makes it just fast enough to run some older games! :) The source code and other information can be found at the homepage. NOTE: I've renamed the file to mamedc01.zip (dc for Digita camera)to avoid confusion with other MAME files on our server. The contents is the same as the file called mamev0.1.zip on the author's page. This emu remains unconfirmed - DC265 owners, please try it and mail me. (Thanks James Surine) -P-

Linux is cool! I mean Linux is really cool! If one of your programs dies in Windoze you press CTRL-ALT-DEL and get some boring box with a list of processes and you click on the one you want to kill and pray. In linux, if a process is misbehaving, you can kill off the offending process by playing Doom! This, I know will NOT work for Windoze because in Winfroze you usually have to press CTRL-ALT-DEL to kill an offending process just so you can get the rest of your system back! -C-

Genesis Power has released Romance Of The Three Kingdoms 4 (1) by KOEI, which was dumped by Kazz. This is probably the rarest 32x game produced, and it was only released in Japan. Thanks to Snorter for the news.
Pete Bernert has updated his TNT/OpenGL plugin for use with PSEmu Pro, this release is MUCH faster than the old one. The speed gain is anything between 1-20 FPS !! You can download version 1.23 by clicking here.
The web page for ThePI has been updated with lots of news. -R-
I received several emails from people living near or in LA, and thankfully the earthquake caused minimal damage! Here's what Richard Ragon from HanaHo Games had to say: It was a 7.0 EarthQuake here in LA! Fortunately, it was out half way in-between Vegas and LA (Where we are at HanaHo Games). I personally find it amazing how places like Turkey can have a 5.0 quake and it levels half the country, and we can have a 7.0 quake and not have a single fatality and minimal damage! GreyBrain of E-Manual also wrote, reporting that The quake was (last time I checked) 7.1, only two points below the quake in turkey, and only two points below a catastrophic severity level. There was some damage, however, Cali holds several records as far as earthquake disasters go, so we're pretty prepared around here and it shows. Last I heard almost no major damages and NO DEATHS. It wasn't a rattler, felt more like you were standing on a boat in choppy waves. We lost power here for about an hour. Reports said that the area near the transformer was seen lighting up like a christmas tree(and in fact we saw the flash from the arc through the window). The biggest damage so far being reported is a train that derailed about 10 miles northwest of the epicenter incidentally my grandfather lives almost on top of the fault, luckily he's ok as well) reports of minor injuries from the train but nothing serious. Fortunately, the cars which jumped the tracks stayed upright. -P-
MAME 0.36 Beta 7 released!!! The Namco System 2 stuff wasn't quite ready, but there are now 1794 ROM sets/games supported! Lots of M72 games were added by Nao (System16 & M72) himself! Click here to see all the additions/changes. You can also get the source code from the Official MAME site!(Thanks Iori17) -P-
SNK is working on a new Fatal Fury game, called Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves. It's unkown if it's a 2D or a 3D version, thanks to `yAsHiRo^ for the news.
Mike Stulir writes that "Back In Time has posted an EXCLUSIVE preview, with screen captures, of the new Arena Blast game, which will be the first completely original game to be published under the Atari name in several years. Arena Blast is based on the Unreal engine.
Granted, Arena Blast is not a "classic" game per se. However, it is the first completely new and original game to be released under the Atari name for quite some time, so I have decided to post a preview on it. Arena Blast is not your typical first person shooter, so I invite you to stop by the site and check it out."
Gridle has once again updated the MAME WIP page, thanks to PRoToCoL for the news.
Some awful news... :( Straight from Dave at Vintage Gaming: As of about 2:45am local time, we just had a very sizeable earthquake in the Los Angeles area. At the time of this posting, I'm not sure of the exact magnitude. Because the server, and myself are located in this region, you may notice downtime depending on what happens with aftershocks and such... Let's all hope and pray for the people in L.A., and that the effects are minimal. -P-
Someone was asking about Atari 8bit computers, and reminded me of this really great site: Holmes 8bit Atari Games! If you're into Atari 8bit computer emulation then this site is a MUST visit. -P-
Do you ever download anything? Ever? Then you *should* be using Getright, which was recently updated to version 4.1! Mac users should try Monica which does the same thing. -P- & -R-
Notice: After receiving some emails, I checked Vintage Gaming and it IS still Dave's site folks. But he's now got a news staff, and will focus on older games and systems. Even the message boards seem to be changing - they're not up at the moment, but you have to register to use them it seems. It also appears to be part of GameFan now. Anyway, I wish the new site the best, but am sad to see the old Dave's Classics is gone. :( Like many emulation fans, Dave's Classics was my first real home on the internet. Farewell old friend, hello new. -P-
Wow! Core Design, one of the best Amiga game houses, has decided to release some of their great classic games for free!!! Get them at Back to the Roots. Emulation is LEGAL! (Thanks EmuUnlim) -P-

The Higher Power of EmuChrist emailed me about a (supposed) new virus in the form of a Budweiser Beer screen saver called BUDDYLST.ZIP... *UPDATE* I recieved this URL from UncleVom about this supposed virus. Apparently it's a hoax, so no worries. :) If you get email about such a virus, pass that URL on to the sender. -P-

Just a note: I've been receiving a LOT of email lately. To those kind souls who've sent me words of support and various tips, you ARE appreciated. Thanks. -P-
Does anyone know what Zophar means with the "Believe" thingie ? The URL is pretty weird too :)
The State of Alaska was for sale yesterday (only $3 !!) but noone bought it. I wonder why =) Thanks to Seryas for the link.
With Ash poking his head up next year on different consoles, I thought it might be entertaining to mention that Scifi.IGN.com has information about the Army of Darkness DVD Limited Edition. Among the new items included on this 2 disc set are an alternate beginning and an alternate ending.-w
This morning I received a new beta of The Impact; sound was redone and it had gotten a MASSIVE speed-up! Now, I check iVilDeD's Site and I see that the author is planning netplay for this excellent emulator! Hopefully, you'll all have a go at it soon.
Razoola has updated the CPS2Shock Site with the following:It's 1AM and I've found over 160 bytes of blank data ($00) in sequential order that is encrypted in the CPS-2 version of Street Fighter Zero / Alpha. I haven't had time to look at it properly yet, but I have confirmed that it's there. This could shed some real light on the encryption routines and could easily show patterns. This is not program code. More info shortly. Thanks to Gazoo for the news.
Daymond W. send me this link, the listed joystick looks cool, should make console gaming a tad more fun ;)
Videogamefans is reporting that, "sources at Midway have spilled the beans that a version of Gauntlet Legends is in development for the Dreamcast thus shifting the game's status from strong rumor to about-to-be-confirmed-for-sure rumor. No doubt it will look real nice and let's not forget about those four controller ports and possibilities for internet play!". Very good news indeed, thanks to Glenn for the news.
Here's a very cool site: the Arcade Cabinet Preservation Society, or A.C.P.S. for short. Basically they're trying to create a complete archive of images and statistical information about every arcade cabinet ever made! Tons of great stuff there already - take a look, and feel free to help complete the collection. -P-
While perusing HanoHo's homepage, I noticed they've released a new arcade game with Capcom called Mallet Madness! Forget about light guns - this game actually lets you SMASH the screen with a big funky looking hammer! :P Let's just hope New York doesn't ban it if some kid bangs up his school with his Dad's toolbox... -P-
Just noticed that Brian Lewis added a message board to his terrific PC2JAMMA site! Should be a great place to discuss ArcadeOS & arcade related hardware issues. And be sure to download the latest version of Brian's ArcadeOS 2.31 (DOS emu frontend) while there - it's very cool, no Windows required. ;-) -P-

So now you know about the ArcadePC! Well, you can also expect a complete Retrogames ArcadePC review soon, because I'm getting one!!! =) Judging from the incredible popularity of the HotRod, I'm expecting great things from this little cabinet, and I'll share my experiences with all of you! -P-

Hanaho have released "the Ultimate Game Cabinet": The ArcadePC mini Cabinet! It looks ABSOLUTELY gorgeous and it isn't TOO expensive either, considering what you're getting. You can read the full press release here, thanks to Hanaho and JoseQ for the news.
Leo Postma has translated the official MAME FAQ into DUTCH! You can read the Dutch version, by going to Leo's homepage: The unofficial Dutch MAME Page. Dus, als je die FAQ eens in het Nederlands wilt lezen, of als je de Engelse versie niet helemaal snapt, is dit de uitgelezen kans :)
JoseQ has revealed WHICH Capcom games will be on the CD that will ship with the HotRod stick: Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting, Section Z, Varth, Block Block, UN Squadron, Side Arms, Commando, Mercs, Exed Eyes, Strider, Son Son, Ghouls'n'Ghosts, 1941 and Magic Sword. That's a lot of CPS1 games :) You can read more about this in the updated FAQ that JoseQ has posted about the HotRod joystick.
JoseQ has posted another Rumor Mill, it's pretty lenghty so you should be busy for a minute or 2 ;) JoseQ has also added a new feature to his site; "slashdot-esque" replies are now possible to news posts. Will we incorporate it too ? Only time will tell :)
The CPS Patch Center has released a patch to play Pang 3 in Callus! Expect a site redesign soon to celebrate 3 months online! -P-

Boukichi has released another GB emulator, this time it's called REW. I have no idea what the reasons are for this emulator, but I guess we can't complain (DBOY was another GB emu by Boukichi), it could very well be some sort of edited DBOY :) Anyway, if someone could translate the page (in Japanese) for us, we'd be happy! Thanks to KOSH for the news. *UPDATE* - it's a WINDOWS gameboy emu =)
The new, yet unnamed, author of Sunset (N64 emu) has written a status update about Sunset. Looks like it's gonna be a long wait ;)

Yahoo News has a blurb featuring an Intel scientist who admits that transistor scaling has reached a major wall. The next generation of silicon CPUs will be the last to feature large improvements unless a scientific breakthrough can offer a method to bypass silicon's corporeal limits. Sounds as if silicon based CPU's are obsolescent. -w
Genesis Power has released WWF WrestleMania 32x (F), also, if you have some old Sega machines (console/copiers/accesory/etc) and you don't want it anymore, feel free to send it their way ;) Thanks to Snorter for the mail.
Our new messageboards are up, I'll see if I can try to get those boards by Matt fixed somehow, because apparently many of you want the old ones. But if it isn't secure, we will not be using it.
Hello GB (gameboy emu for win32) is being resurrected as we speak :) I have no idea what the Japanese update explains though, since my copy of Translingo expired.
3 cups of coffee later and I'm still feeling tired ....
Sunday, October 10th 1999 - Last updated @ 20:00 EST
Just a note: I'm (Prophet) taking off now for the night. The apparent demise of our message boards is very depressing, and the past two weeks warrant an evening away from this place for me. If there's a major emu release later tonight (which I doubt), my apologies in advance for not posting it. -P-

Notice: our MAME message board just literally disappeared! I was posting a reply to someone, when suddenly the enire board was GONE. Having checked the server, I can confirm that the board's html is indeed blank. It is now 4:30 AM where Atila lives. This is the first time I've actually seen the scripts go bonkers and delete a board with my own eyes, so before the accusations and inuendo begins - know the facts. *UPDATE* Now all the boards have vanished. It's late, I have no idea what happened to them and hopefully they'll be restored tomorrow. :( -P-

Friday, October 8th 1999 - Last updated @ 23:14 EST
GeoShock seems to be dead, replaced with a brutal IRC log. Haze does NOT deserve the harassment he's getting from some useless lowlives, and this IRC log is a good example of what causes emu programmers, dumpers and siteops to close down and quit. Haze is/was one of the truly good people in emulation - he helped many people, contributed to programming projects (Emu+ etc.) and is a decent, friendly, respectful person. If this truly marks the end of GeoShock, and Haze leaves the scene - we at Retrogames will miss you. :( -P-
Guru-Choc's Arcade Heaven has hit the big 2,000,000! Congrats to Guru-Choc :) Guru-Choc is the one who initially got me hooked up with space and a server, you rock!!
If you're bored (like me right now ;) you might wanna try musicvideos.com and watch some streamed musicvideos. Both new ones and old ones :) You will have to register (it's free though) to watch those videos. If you have a fast connect, you should check out the 300kbps versions of the videos!
JoseQ has posted another Rumor Mill, what this about giving away an arcade cabinet ?!

Martin from Emulation64 has quit, at least for a while. :( Hundreds of ROM demands can get to you after a while. -P-

Mike Stulir has once again gotten his hands on a nice preview copy, this time it's SPACE INVADERS for the PSX: Yet another classic videogame lives again. Activision has recently released a modern version of the Taito classic coin-op game "Space Invaders". To look at my review, be sure to click on the "Space Invaders" link on the Back In Time web site. He also writes that you should "look for a preview of Q*Bert in the next few days. Q*Bert is another classic coin-op game that is getting a modern facelift. The game is currently in "alpha" stage, but my spies have provided me with a copy of what has been completed so far. Q*Bert will be published under the Atari Interactive label by Hasbro Interactive."
Seems I posted some news that was already posted yesterday (clrmame prob4) :) That's what you get when you have one of the most actively updated sites on the net (and the main dude in charge doesn't read the updates correctly :) Word to the staff !

Saint's Arcade Controls site posted some great info about using rotary joysticks (Ikari Warriors etc.) with PC's! Some of you will want to read this. -P-
Some loser seems to be selling MAME with Pacman for $25. I'm NOT posting the URL, but it's been reported to Nicola (Good work red nose). Shame on anyone trying to profit from MAME team's hard work. I was browsing and came across this site called VIDEOSEEKER, and I was amazed when I saw it had some streamed Saturday Night Live clips! Then I noticed that they had the clip of Eddie Murphy as "Buh-weet" online, if you havent seen Eddie Murphy as "Buh-weet" (1981), you are missing out! There's also a clip of Eddie Murphy as Jesse Jackson, who's trying to apologize for his "HymieTown" (1983) comment. Both these clips are also on the Eddie Murphy "Saturday Night Live" video, too bad mine is kaputt.

USC, my alma mater, has developed a machine that can recognize speech better than humans can! This is the first step to building a real life Terminator robot! : ) I found this to be a fascinating read, it will no doubt completely change the way neural networks are built from now on. This may not be retrogames related, but I remember the neuro sciences building being built when I was attending school there, I'm glad to see something good finally coming out of USC for a change. -C-
