  • Here's a little tip regarding NeoRAGEx... If you prefer console mode (limited credits and extra features/modes), but you want red blood etc., just do this: start the game in arcade mode, exit to Windows, go to the hiscores folder, and change the extension from brm to brmc. For most games (except AoF3 & Samsho 1 & 2)this will defeat the censorship. BTW, for Samsho2, just go to options, select Japanese for language, then go back and set it to English. Voila! Red blood! -P-

  • iViLDeD needs help from one (or more) of you out there. The Sega System 32 emu author wants to buy a S32 board (Dark Edge) so that he can dump it, and neither him nor iViLDeD can spend the cash right now to buy the board. The board is onsale at eBay for only $15! *UPDATE* People do not bid on this anymore, NAZ knows the high bidder, if things work out it'll be dumped. Right now the price is just going up!

  • TNT (the tv channel) will be airing a movie about Steve Jobs (co-founder of Apple) and Bill Gates (releases alpha and beta software as "retail version") which is called The Pirates of Silicon Valley on Sunday the 20th of June. Thanks to Richard Bannister for the link

  • Gamefan has a nice story on Zelda 2, with lots of rumours!

  • Sony is trying to stop/regulate the sales of used PSX games, they tried it last year (with a price limit) and it bombed, so this time they're trying it in court! Can you believe that ?! Sony doesn't want their used games to be sold cheap because it might hurt the PSX image. This is what they were saying last year. What a load of cr*p, click here to read more about it

  • DragonYen has posted a (last ?) long update on why EliteGamer.com is down right now. It's a long story, but it's time to whoop Sony's behind and maybe even call for a boycott of somesort. If I'm not mistaken, the bleem! people should be able to sue Sony for harassment (among other things)

  • Dan Boris has released version 0.12 of his Atari 7800 emulator called v7800, click here to see what's new.

  • NeoGeo Country is looking for mirrors to host MVS version of Baseball Stars Professional, help them out if you can. Thanks to Guiseppe Romano for the news.

  • MORE PARTYMUSIC! Because our host setup a new server and added some bandwith he wants to see how the box performs under heavy stress. How better to help them with a few new releases, in MP3 style. First up is "Analogue State of Mind" by Dan Dryer of Destiny Music. This tune won the 1st place at TakeOver '99 in the MP3 contest a week or so ago. The second song is by Sierra & Chaotic of Destiny Music and is called "Super Model". Remember to leech both tunes as my host wants to see some stress on the new box!!

  • The US government is overreacting once again, now trying to pass a bill that will ban the sales of violent games to teenagers. This is the official US policy I think: 1) DO nothing. 2) Wait till something bad happens 3) Overreact and blame the wrong people 4) Try to pass crooked legislation 5) Hide from angry people 6) Revoke the crooked legislation 7) Go back to doing nothing. Thanks to Michael Farrell for the link

  • Apparently PB2 is NOT a leak from NGC. Fight Fever has also been released. I just spoke to ChrisR on IRC. He claims to have dumped these games himself, and released them because he disagrees with NGC's policies. He also claims to own THIS huge collection of every NeoGeo game ever made. Make of all this what you will... -P-

  • Things are a bit slow today, it's also a bit hot and that's never good for "work". We did break our little visitors record yesterday, we had 43,206 hits yesterday! I'm so overjoyed with winning this Oscar, I'd like to thank my mom, my brother for, well, being my brother, my producer George Lucas for standing by us when things looked bad, Quentin Tarantino, our director, for making me look real good in this movie and Arnold Schwarzenegger for playing in that lame movie when his career began, where he posed as Hercules. • Well, thanks to Apollo69 we now know the Shock Troopers v3 ROM should be 2mb with a checksum of a05ba5db. If you have the 4mb file, use Split to fix it. Split is a DOS program - the usage is like this: C:> split file-to-be-split name-of-first-half name-of-second-half. Be sure to backup your original ROM in case you make a mistake. Once you've successfully split the ROM, you can discard the second half and replace the 4mb v3 with the new 2mb first half in your shocktr2.zip.

  • *UPDATE* The DraculaX link posted earlier turned out to be FAKE. Sorry for the inconvenience. Another idiot wanting attention. Sigh... Thanks Michael Arm for the info.

  • About the 2 different V3 roms out there for Shock Troopers 2, Appolo ICQd me about it, the correct size is 2 MB. He did it so in case it was leaked, he would know WHO leaked it. So the guys that donated the $$$ got the one with the 4MB V3 rom, pretty sneaky huh :)

  • NeoGeo Country needs your donations. :)

  • JoseQ has posted a letter of apology and resignation from the 14 year old webmaster of Emulation Ireland - a site that foolishly posted the private PSEMU beta. The site is now closed. In related news, read this GenEm messageboard post made earlier today regarding another site's attempts to defend themselves. Too bad they're not as mature as Emu Ireland's teenaged webmaster.

  • MAME supporting Dreamcast?!?! ;-) Heh... Thanks Emusphere for the link.

  • JoseQ posted another Rumor Mill. His hypothesis regarding CPS2 sure is a nice thought!

  • The Jagulator homepage has had yet another bit of good news! Seems things may start moving faster now. :)

  • There's been a lot of confusion regarding the checksum of Shock Troopers 2 v3 ROM. Allow me to clarify things a bit. Basically there appears to be 2 dumps floating around. One has a v3 checksum of a40cea2c, the other has a v3 checksum of a05ba5db. You can see which one you have by simply opening your shocktr2 with Winzip.

I *think* the a40cea2c is the SAME, but is 4mb, while the other is simply that same dump cut in half. At this point I'd suggest waiting to see what size/checksum MAME and NeoRAGEx support before making any final calls. Anyway - if you use KBMAME, simply open neogeo.drv with notepad. Find the shocktr2 driver... Look at the last line: ROM_LOAD st2_v3.rom 0x800000 0x200000 0xa40cea2c. The last 8 characters are the checksum. The 200000 before that is the size. Simply edit the 2 (to a 4 if needed etc.) and the checksum to whatever appears in your zip when you open it with Winzip. -P-

  • Good ol' Zophar has been interviewed by Necromancer VMX, click here to read

  • EmuAlliance were trying to save their asses today, with that mail they posted from Lewpy. "See, PSemu ain't dead!", well their other site (big link on their site) still frikkin' has the beta online as a "hot download". Well, EmuAlliance gets the big finger from Retrogames, you can be proud of that since you are the first site to receive that awesome award.

  • I guess you all noticed that Prophet is back :)

  • There's a new bleem! beta out which supposedly fixes a few nasty problems. Thanks to need2pee and _Psi_ for the news

  • Please remember: KBMAME, Emu+, PMAME etc. are merely derivative works that use the incredible work of the MAME Team. Without MAME there would be NONE of those alternate versions - just wanted to remind everyone where all the goodies originate! :)

  • It seems the new KBMAME cannot run Metal Slug X with less than 128mb RAM on some PC's. Click here for some possible help if you have a memory problem. Please post a message on the NeoGeo message board if you still have problems to help diagnose it.

  • Here is a fixed neogeo.drv file for the new KBMAMEa9. It will allow you to play Last Blade 2 in arcade mode without any tricks & fixes size errors in ST2. Also, the KBMAMEa9 zip now includes this fixed neogeo.drv as well. You can click here or below - same file. :)

  • Sad news from iVilDeD, one of the PSEmu beta testers:

Today is the 2 year anniversary of PSEmu (or 4 days ago depending on who you talk to) - the first playstation emulator made. The new author has been working very hard the last few weeks and managed to greatly improve both speed, compatibility and also got the MDEC fully working. The motivation? To give you a new release with some major improvements on this anniversary...

This was however spoiled when someone betrayed the new authors trust by leaking a private beta. This beta has now been widespread on sites and message boards during the last few days. This has made the new author lose this source of motivation and he has now decided to discontinue the project.

People like NINTENDA of emualliance have been claiming that spreading the beta is actually helping PSEmu. If you see him or anyone else spreading the beta: be sure to let them know how wrong they where, it's those people who made the author lose his motivation and resulting in the end of PSEmu...

...and NO, you can not have the sources.

/iVilDeD - former beta tester of PSEmuPro

There you have it, PSEmu is dead. Hope you're all happy now.

  • The MAME Testing Project is looking for SERIOUS people that can contribute to the project. This is a project which tries to test all games emulated by MAME and find bug reports for those games, which will hopefully give us better emulation.

  • NAZ posted a little something on our general messageboard, click here to read.

  • Sony has developed a new laser device for use with the PSX, it will enable the PSX to read both CDs and DVD!

  • An little Alaskan boy (aged 5) shot his brother (aged 7) because he couldn't use the Nintendo. All I want to know is how a five-year old boy can get his hands on a loaded gun and shoot his brother ?! Time to sue the parents I think, I'd also like to know what excuse the NRA will have this time. Wayne LaPierre must be real proud now. Thanks to Sumidexe for the link

  • Richard Bannister has once again updated Dgen for MAC, it's a whole lot faster now :) On a different note, hopefully Richard will be able to do these MAC updates himself once the script is finished (Sean, you alive ?). Yes, we will "expand" if you will and Richard is one of the people joining, it's kinda hard to see a script that's nearly done, but it hasn't been finished yet. Make me happy, Sean :)

  • BIG, BIG UPDATE @ The MAME WIP Page!!

  • And the bubble is bursted. The "leak" stunt was a nice goodbye rom release by NAZ and Apollo69.

  • You will understand that this is a SAD day indeed, losing 2 experienced dumpers in the same day. Guess we had it coming eh ? Thanks for the ride guys, eventhough the last part sucked :)

  • Visoly Inc., is working on a Gameboy emulator for the PSX which will only play non-CGB carts and it doesn't have sound (yet?), read more about it here. Thanks to Orochi Yagami for the news

  • According to a new survey, 40% of all business software installed in 1998 was pirated! Highest percentages were found in Vietnam (97%!!!) and China (95%!!). Can't say I'm surprised, software companies can't really expect customers to pay for beta software :) Thanks to Gerard Pinzone for the link

  • Shock Troopers 2 and Metal Slug X are floating around on USENET, someone made a special version of MAME which plays both of these games, lamers are bugging everyone on IRC about this. Don't even think about asking for them on IRC, it'll result in a kick/ban. (I have a hunch that today's list will be big)

  • Apollo69 has quit dumping because of the things that have been going on in the NeoGeo scene these past few days. This is a sad day indeed.

Take out_mm2.dll from an old version of Winamp, throw out_mm2.dll into your current winamp plugin directory then load the dll as a plugin. Maybe it's snowing in Hell too... An interesting ballgame eh?

  • Tupring sent me a mail explaining how to enable RAVE mode in iNES for MAC: first uncompress the preferences file (iNES.prefs) with Eazy-GZ or a similar program, Stuffit-Expander works too and then double click on it to open it with SimpleText. The first thing you should see is RAVE:00 - Change it to RAVE:01 and recompress the iNES.prefs file, Drag it onto Eazy-GZ, make sure you change it back to a .gz then just launch iNES and select RAVE from the video preference box. iNES has to be registered for this to work. After doing that, your NES games will look like this and this :)
